Home Estate Leopoldshoehe

With the opening of the Local Museum in the former farm Eickmeyer in Leopaldshöhe, a long-held dream by the Heimatverein Leopoldshöhe was realised. In long-standing painstakingly work, volunteers, with the support of the community Leopoldshöhe, created an institution, which is unrivalled. The BBQ-place, built a few years before as well as the renovated baking house, which is now used as festival and event room, are used not only by the Leopoldshöhe population.

In the year 1994, the baking oven was rebuilt, so that the baking house carries the name justifiably again. Two baking groups in the Heimatverein bake here bread and cake after old recipes regularly. Guests are always very welcome.

In June 1999, interior work in the main building of the farmstead, a four-beam timber-framed house from the year 1793, finished. The last step in the direction of a local museum could then be taken: furnishing the rooms fit for a museum.

In the course of the years, the Heimatverein collected numerous items from the most diverse areas of everyday life from bygone times: farming machines and devices, from trade, household but also furnitures as well as other home furnishings in large numbers. Extensive restoration work was often needed before the exhibits could be registered and catalogued and found their place in the museum. The museum offers an overview about life in rural areas.

The correct historical reproduction or presentation of a certain period is not in the foreground here, but a cross section of agriculture, trade and daily life of our forefathers is to be presented.

Thus, an old cobbler's, tailor and carpenter workshops have been set up. Items from home slaughtering, big and small farming devices are being exhibited, but also living rooms have been furnished true to the original. The house is open to all citizens and guests, whereby the rooms do not only serve as a museum. Other cultural events, e.g. exhibitions, readings, lectures and concerts take place here.
