Handorf

Due to its location at the river Werse,war Handorf was a popular destination in the past and is still being called village of the big coffee pots today. By now, Handorf developed into a dormitory town of Münster, which is very popular with its numerous detached houses in the countryside especially with families with children. Village patron saint of Handorf is St. Petronilla, after which the Catholic village church is named. There is also a Protestant church ('Zion Church).

The affiliated village Dorbaum is also characterised by estates of detached residences and a barrack including drill ground. This is popular as a local recreation area. Situated in the north of Dorbaum, the British military training ground is not open to the public since 2003. The class B of the army corporal school is housed in the Lützow Barrack, on the terrain of the former airport Münster-Handorf. In the past, thousands of soldiers were stationed there, now only a few hundred course participants live here. In addition, a part of the 1st German-Dutch Corps is stationed here as well.

In Dorbaum is also the specialist clinic Hornheide situated, a renowned special hospital for skin and face diseases.
