Goetzberger Mill

In 1877 the Götzberg windmill with compass rose and jalousie sails was built by the Wakendorfer carpenter Möller as 'underslung Dutch tower' on  Götzberg's highest elevation. In 1879 miller Marx Schlüter acquired the mill. Until today this listed windmill is still worked and managed by the family Schlüter now in the fifth generation.
On the 20th March 2004 the mill is damaged by storm, one sails breaks off and the roof is impaired.

Fortunately nobody was injured. 'The building has been insured and with that also the roof', so Klaus Schlüter, mill owner, ' but the insurance premium for the sails exceeded our financial possibilities by far. Even though the mill is enjoyed by many as landmark of Henstedt-Ulzburg, we haven't earned any money with the mill and are not able to maintain it for the general public on our own.'

One of the mill's 'beneficiaries' is the WHU, Waehlergemeinschaft Henstedt-Ulzburg, who has been canvassed at communal elections with the mill since its founding. Its party's chairman Wolfgang Sievers has been in long discussions with the family Schlüter and reached the following result: The mill is the landmark of Henstedt-Ulzburg, stems from the year 1877, is a listed building, still in working condition and with that the only windmill of the district that is worth protecting and preserving. This can only be done in the long run with a club Götzberger Mühle. The structure of a club safeguards active and passive members, allows tax reduced donations as well as subsidies from state, district and community. Moreover a club can also organise co-operation between mill and family Schlüter's animal feed business.

Mill location: Henstedt-Ulzburg at the village Götzberg
at the Landstrasse L75 from Henstedt-Ulzburg to Wakendorf II.
