This positive development is not only noted in the villages that lie in the rich greenbelt area. Already at the beginning of the nineties the signs of the times were recognized and good infrastructure was created. The upgrading of the B 101, the construction of a Biotechnology Park and the industry centers in Ludwigsfelde were foresighted and lasting.

Herbert Vogler, director of the Struktur- und Wirtschafts- förderungsgesellschaft, sees several causes for the top position.

There is of course the close proximity to Berlin. The settlement of industry in the north has inevitably incorporated the medium-sized and small companies.

Important was also that the communal politicians in the district as well as in the towns and communities appeared economically friendly, which created a investor friendly climate.
