German Textile Museum

The German textile museum is located at the Andreasmarkt in Krefeld-Linn. The market is the earthly middle of the middle aged little castle town. One long part of the market place belongs to the textile museum. One half of the house is basically a new building, the other half of the house reveals its history as a representative living quarters of a mayor of Linnen dating back to the 18th century. In a suitable and proper condition one of the largest museum treasures are stored: A collection of more than 20.000 textiles across a period of 2000 years from all over the world. The collection, the preservation and restoration of textiles contributes to the research of one of the oldest art and culture phases of humanity. In changing exhibitions some pieces from their own, from private and also from other collection are presented to the public.
