The Fürstin Franziska Christine Stiftung is a orphanage founded in Essen in 1763 by Princess Abbess Franziska Christine von Pfalz-Sulzbach.
The foundation for the building was laid in 1764 in today's district Steele. The facility was completed in 1769. On the 4th of December of the same year the first children could be accommodated. The church, located between the two residential wings was blessed in 1770 by Abbot Anselm von Werden. The princess, who died on the 16th of July 1776, was buried in the orphanage's chapel.
