An eerie silence penetrates the forest. Gnarled oaks whose roots grow bizarre loops through the underground, big tree hollows as well as rare flowers line the path. We are not in a Science-Fiction novel on a distant planet but in the middle of the Waldecker Land: at the Knorreichenstieg at the Edersee.

Small sized nature woods developed here at the hard to farm extreme slopes. These "primaeval forests" have survived to this day and are well known among experts. It is assumed that here are thousand-year old oaks situated. To open these gems also to the laymen a nature trail in the area has been gently developed. Hikers should be able to grasps the concept of the charm and size of uninfluenced nature and support its safety.

The nature trail "Knorreichenstieg" leads from Nelkenstieg near Asel over Hünselburg to Kahle Hardt and is marked with a beam-tree berry leaf on the hiking route.
