From Louis Armstrong to Kenny Wheeler

The Jazz-Ensembles of the conservatoire Münster in the reading hall of the city library on the 25.06.2015 at 8pm – Admission free –

The Jazz-Ensembles of the conservatoire Münster present a wide musical range in their concert in the reading hall of the library Münster on Thursday the 25.06.2015, from 8pm onwards. Well known Jazz classics of the 1950ties will be presented as well as popular pieces of contemporary Jazz.

The Jazz-Ensembles, under the management of the Jazz Trompeter Christian Kappe, exists since the summer semester 2009. Numerous concerts (among others repeated at 'Neue Wände' in the Theatre Münster and also at the international Jazz festival in Rheine) show, how the students in the subject areas classic, pop and keyboard & music production, engage themselves also in music outside their fields. The appearances of the Ensembles testify the huge musicality as well as a stylish and tonal range with music from Swing to Bossa Nova and Samba to Jazz-Rock and Funk.

Trompeter Christian Kappe integrates into the arrangements of vocal and instrumental compositions also his own musical experiences, e.g. from the teamwork with the ensembles of Trilok Gurtu, Jasper van’t Hof, Barbara Dennerlein and the Bundesjazzorchester (Peter Herbolzheimer). www.christiankappe.com

The circle of friends supports the city library with a book flea-market. Books, each for one Euro, are available on the terrace in front of the library in good weather. should it be raining, the flea-market moves into the foyer. The proceeds support the acquisitions of new media.

Reading with the picture story book by Agnès de Lestrade. The elephant takes his bad mood out on the much smaller chimpanzee, who promptly looks for a victim, of course still smaller and so on. Sadako's Cranes

'10 years after the atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima, the 10-year old Japanese girls Sadako becomes fatally ill. She learns about the legend, which said, that the one who folds 1000 paper cranes will be granted a wish. In the hope to get well again, she starts her work.' Since then cranes are a symbol of peace. Rike Ahlbrand reads the moving story of Sadako and will then fold cranes with you.

Taiko Drums

Even Japanese drummers, who bring the giant Taiko to life started from scratch. If you are interested to learn Japanese drums, here you have the chance. Werner Domanski from the Hoshidaiko Osnabrück explains the origin of the century-old tradition of Japanese drums and will practise easy pieces with you. Then you are able to perform these at the 'Everything Manga' -Saturday “on the 15.8.15.

Manga Drawing: Chibi

Manga drawer Alexandra Völker shows you how to draw the so-called Chibi figures -Figuren. The word 'Chibi' means 'small' in Japanese and so adult Manga figures will be shaped into sweet and funny individual characters. With the completed figures you will be able to create short comics or individual pictures.

Manga Drawing and Colouring

In the centre of this Manga drawing course are the different colouring techniques. After you warmed up with the joined Manga theme drawing, Alexandra Völker will show you individual colour flowing techniques. Apart from classic watercolours you can also try out water colour crayons pencils. The result is to create a Manga bookmark or a watercolour picture.

Picture Book Cinema: Farmer Beck takes off

A farmer also needs to take a holiday. But what to do with all the animals, which want to be fed? Farmer Beck has an idea!

Maike Stammnitz shows the picture book cinema after the book by Christian Tielmann and Daniel Napp. Then children from the age of 4 can paint the farm animals and also the resourceful farmer Beck with finger colours onto the glass wall of the event room.
