Community Visselhoevede in the rural district of Rotenburg (Wuemme)

Visselhövede is situated at the southern fringe of the rural district Rotenburg (Wümme). The core village of Visselhövede is situated at the Lüneburger Heide and the river Vissel (also Visselbach) in the centre of the town triangle Bremen-Hamburg-Hanover. The region is characterised mostly by agricultural surfaces.

Visselhövede is situated ca 70m above sea level. The highest elevation is the Höllenberg, which is located in the village of Drögenbostel on a height of 93,4m.

Part of the community's landmarks is the old town with its marketplace and alleys in Visselhövede, the St.-Johannis-church as we'll as the neighbouring Vissel spring and the town hall.

The culture and local association has its headquarter at the community centre in the Burgstraße. A historical heather depot was extended into the Visselhof (estate).

The former honey and wax-ware factory Sonnentau with the 27m high water tower was reconstructed in part in the course of the urban redevelopment. In the water tower and the former office building are now galleries for contemporary art and ateliers. Just like the Heimathaus the water tower also has a registry office branch. You can get married there.

The community Visselhövede consists of 15 villages:
