The community Brüggen is situated amidst the nature resort Schwalm-Nette. Brüggen consists of the villages Brüggen, Bracht and Born.

Bracht is often described as 'Dohlen-village'. This is based on a lovely occurrence in the year 1830.

The village name Born stems from 'Borne', middle-low German for a natural flowing well.
