Christmas village Himmelpforten
Every year, thousands of children write and send their Christmas list to Father Christmas in Himmelpforten. Already in 1966 over 4.000 children from all over the world did send their small and big wishes to the little village with the unique name 'Himmelpforten' between Hamburg and Cuxhaven.
Every year Father Christmas gets busier. In 1996 over 17.000 letters were sent to Himmelpforten and all were answered.
The children have to thank Mayor Hermann Bardenhagen for his great support. He started the voluntary Father Christmas post office in Himmelpforten. He and his five helpers are very busy in the pre-Christmas time answering every single Christmas list.
Since 1997 the Himmelpforten Father Christmas can also be reached via the Internet at http://www.himmelpforten.de. In 1997 the online Father Christmas received over 15.000 e-mail Christmas list already!
Annually a special postmark is being issued by the post for the Himmelpforten Father Christmas.
