Camping Site Bautzen ****

The facility at the reservoir is now mentioned in the well-known ADAC Guide for the first time. In two categories four of five points were given.

Birgit Haubner can't fasten a golden sign with four stars at her reception building. But the first entry into the new ADAC Travel Guide is for the camping site at the Bautzen reservoir much more important: 'The book is more or less the bible for camper', says the 47-year old, who opened the new site in Bautzen-Burk last May. Just four weeks later the ADAC tester arrived unannounced with long questionnaires and lists, looked into every nook and cranny and took notes. – The result can be reviewed now in the new edition of the camping guide, which presents on nearly 900 pages sites in Germany and North Europe. For the sanitary facilities and location design they got four out of five stars. 'We are very happy with the result – because we were very anxious what would be printed.' There was only one star for the provision offer and leisure facilities. 'But we hadn't really finished the site when the tester arrived.' By now the playground with slide, see-saw and climbing wall is complete and soon the construction for huts and yurt for travelling cyclists and hikers will start.

Weather permitting the site, which holds more than 100 camper vehicles, will open beginning of April, latest Easter. 'For a newcomer the rating in the ADAC Guide is a great success', says Frank Haubner, the husband of the operator. The businessman will be helping a lot in the next few days as the site has to be ready for the start of the new season. 'It starts on Saturday – and we will be even better in the next test.'
