Bremer Christmas Market 2016

Last year, the Christmas market opened three days earlier than usual. Already since Monday, the 21st November 2016, the market in Bremen's city centre invited feasting and shopping. Visitors from near and afar say the same thing, it is one of Germany's prettiest Christmas markets.

Around the Bremer town hall, the Roland and the Town Musisicans, a magical village made of stalls, booths and snack bars were set up. Loved by everybody, the market is a lovely start to the Christmas season. Nearly 200 stalls gave a taste for young and old of the pre-Christmas mood. Handicrafts, pralines, woollen goods or candles – the Christmas market offered visitors lots of inspiration for gifts to put under the Christmas tree.

The Christmas market was opened with a celebration hour in the St. Petri cathedral on Monday, 21. November at 4pm. um 16 Uhr. With their addresses, Bürgerschaft-President Christian Weber and cathedral parish priest Ingrid Witte welcomed the guests and rang in the time of Advent. The boys' choir of the Unser Lieben Frauen church, framed the opening programme musically.

Admission is free. At the official start of the 31 days Christmas market, the lights of the big Christmas tree in front of the Bürgerschaft were switched on.
