To experience and learn about a city - whether as Berliner or as tourist, can be very exciting. and it is even more fascinating to see Berlin from above. From many towers and viewing platforms, one has a great view over Berlin. Some can easily reached by lifts, others have to be climbed arduously via many steps.

Here a selection: The Berlin Television and UKW-Tower, named by the Berliner "Telespargel", is with its 365 metres one of Berlin's most striking landmarks.
A lift will bring you in 40 seconds to the viewing platform at a height of 200m. In good weather one can enjoy a fantastic panorama up to a distance of 40km. At a height of 207m the Telecafé invites you. Seated on a turntable it turns in one hour twice around its own axle. Enjoy the unparalleled view over Berlin at the Panorama Bar with a coffee or glass of wine.

The Reichstag, seat of the German Bundestag, is a monumental building from the founding time of the German Reich; it is over 100 years old, has a varied history and a pregnant silhouette. The magnificent building at the Tiergarten has to thank its origin to the founding of the German Reich in 1871.

The Reichstag with its glass cupola has developed into one of Berlin's main attractions. The Reichstag belongs to the people, hence it is open to the public even though you have to queue to get in. Impressive is the new glass cupola and even more impressive is the view from the Reichstag over Berlin.

Opening Times: daily from 8am to 12mn, last admission 10pm.

Unmissable in Berlin's centre, soars Victoria the goddess of victory as one of the city's landmarks on the victory column at the Großer Stern at the Tiergarten. The victory column was erected in remembrance of the three successful wars, in 1864 against Denmark , in 1866 against Austria and in 1870/71 against France.

A spiral staircase leads to the viewing platform of the altogether 69,27m high column (285 steps). Here one has a marvellous view over the Tiergarten and Berlin's centre.

Berlin's prettiest and the most harmonic place is for sure the Gendarmenmarkt, only a short walk away from the Friedrichstraße. The place is surrounded by three monumental buildings: the Playhouse, the German Cathedral and the French Cathedral.

The French Cathedral at the place's north side was built 1701-1705 after plans by LOUIS Cayart and Quesnay. The cathedral comprises of the Friedrichstadt Church and the later added dome tower. The 70m high tower was built after plans by Carl Friedrich von Contards. Inside hangs a carillon comprising of five octaves and 60 bells, which are not tolled, but being stroke via a claviature.

In 40m height is the viewing balustrade located that offers the most beautiful view over the Gendarmenmarkt and the centre of Berlin. In the basement of the house is the Huguenots Museum.
