Animal Shelter Bautzen Bloaschütz
We present ourselves Our non-profit club was founded on the 20th June 1990 with 24 members. Our umbrella organisation is the Deutsche Tierschutzbund (German Humane Society). Frau Margot Friedrich was elected as chairwoman. The club has right now 117 members. The city of Bautzen presented us in 1992 with the former kennel facility of the JVA Bautzen at the "Karnickelberg" for the usages as an animal shelter. It existed until 1994. The city of Bautzen then erected a memorial for the victims of Stalinism in this place. From 1994 to 1997 we were able to use the dog facility of the former explosives plant in Gnaschwitz on an interim basis. In March 1995 the former nursery Bloaschütz was bought with altogether 8300 m2 to build a new animal shelter. The preparations for the building work started on the 1st of May 1995 and on the 11th of October 1997 opened our first own animal shelter in Bloaschütz. The building project was financed through subsidies from the Free State and donations.Our jurisdiction is in the districts Bautzen and Kamenz in the Free State of Saxony. But 'emergency cases' from other areas will be taken in.
Often the animals are old or ill. All animals, whether dog, cat or other small animals will be lovingly be cared for by us. But even the best animal shelter is no substitute for a real home. That is why we are always trying to find, with your help, a suitable family or faithful friend fast.Right now ca 50 dogs and ca 100 cats are looking for a new happy home. The animal shelter is happy to look after your pet during your holidays. Should you have queries about food or handling of pets or about animal protection, please talk to us.
The animal shelter has two cat kennels. The rooms are bright and friendly with cosy equipment for the guests. The rooms also have central heating to keep the cats warm on colder days. The animals will be fed as requested by the owners or can be brought along. The same applies to individual favourite toys or familiar beds. A vaccination card with up-to-date vaccinations is required for the kennel admission. We take of course also rabbits, guinea pigs or birds into care. Dogs have at the dog kennel places with the same care facilities. In case of need A vet is daily available in case of need.
Pre-booking for kennel guests is necessary.
