The small village Dögerode is situated in a quiet location at the hillside of the 'Kahlberg' and is with its 155 citizens (status 04. 2007) the second smallest village in the community Kalefeld. According to a certificate Dögerode was called 'Dügherode' in the year 1418 and got the name 'Dögenrode' in 1784.

The pretty 'St. Georg's chapel' in the village centre was built in the years 1891- 1892.

The old school was converted into a 'community centre' mostly with the help of the citizens of Dögerode. The centre was opened with an inauguration celebration in the year 2003. The 'community centre' is not only used for club meetings and events but can also be booked for private festivities.
